StatusGrab is a local, on-device status browser and saver. This policy explains, plainly, what the app does and doesn't do with your data.
1. Overview
StatusGrab lets you browse, preview, and save status images and videos from apps you connect (such as WhatsApp) that are already viewable on your own device. StatusGrab has no user accounts, no sign-in, and no backend server that your files pass through. Everything described below happens locally on your device unless stated otherwise.
2. What we collect
StatusGrab itself does not collect, transmit, or store any personal information on remote servers. We do not ask for your name, phone number, email, or contacts. We do not read message content, chat history, or contact lists — only the media files inside the folder you explicitly grant access to.
The one exception is advertising: StatusGrab shows ads through Google AdMob to keep the app free, and AdMob collects a limited set of data on its own behalf. See Third-party services below.
3. Permissions
| Permission | Why it's used |
|---|---|
| Folder access (Storage Access Framework) | You pick a specific folder per connected app (e.g. WhatsApp's status folder). StatusGrab can only read that folder — not your full device storage — and access can be revoked at any time from Android's app settings. |
| Internet | Required to request and display ads through Google AdMob. |
4. Third-party services
StatusGrab uses Google AdMob to display ads. AdMob may collect device identifiers (such as the Android advertising ID), approximate location, and ad interaction data to serve and measure ads, in accordance with Google's own policies. We do not control or have access to this data beyond aggregate ad performance.
Learn more in Google's Privacy Policy and manage ad personalization from your device's Google Settings at any time.
5. Storage & retention
Statuses you save are copied to your device's public gallery (Pictures/StatusGrab or Movies/StatusGrab) using Android's MediaStore, the same system every gallery app uses. These files are yours — StatusGrab does not sync, back up, or retain a copy anywhere else. Deleting them from your gallery removes them completely.
6. Children's privacy
StatusGrab is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has used the app in a way that concerns you, contact us using the details below.
7. Your choices
- Revoke a connected app's folder access anytime in Android Settings → Apps → StatusGrab → Permissions.
- Disconnect an app directly inside StatusGrab via the "Add app" dialog.
- Opt out of personalized ads in your device's Google Settings → Ads.
- Uninstalling the app removes all locally stored app data immediately; saved gallery files are unaffected since they live in your public gallery.
8. Policy changes
If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted at this same page with a new effective date above. Continued use of StatusGrab after changes take effect means you accept the revised policy.
